Russia and the United States Reach Agreement on Ukraine, Lavrov Says
Russia and the United States have agreed to commence the Ukrainian settlement process in the near future and designate negotiators. This was announced by Russian Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The agreement includes creating conditions for the complete restoration of cooperation between Russia and the U.S. parallel to the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. “There are grounds to believe that the American side has started to listen to Russia's position,” Lavrov said.
He also outlined steps aimed at restoring cooperation between Russia and the United States. The first step involves the appointment of ambassadors, lifting restrictions on the work of diplomatic missions, and resolving issues related to the seizure of Russian property and limitations on bank transfers.
According to him, once both sides designate negotiation teams, consultations between Russia and the United States regarding Ukraine will start to take on a regular nature. Lavrov also mentioned that American counterparts have proposed to introduce some kind of moratorium on attacks against energy facilities. In response, Russian representatives stated that they have never endangered the energy supply systems of the population and that Russia's targets are only those facilities that directly serve Ukraine's armed forces.
