Approximately 300 Fishermen Stranded on Ice Floe in the Sea of Okhotsk
In the Sakhalin region, Russian Emergencies Ministry employees are attempting to rescue 300 fishermen who are stranded on an ice floe, isolated from the shore. This was reported by RBC.
A 10-meter gap has formed from the village of Malka to the mouth of the Dolinka River. Preliminary data indicates that the ice floe, which is carrying about 300 people, is drifting toward the Sea of Okhotsk.
Six rescue workers and four units of equipment from the Russian Emergencies Ministry have been dispatched to the scene. A Mi-8 helicopter is preparing for a flight from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
