Transport Fare Could Have Been Announced as 6 Drams, 7 Drams, or Free – Avinyan
Recently, it has been reported that the cost of transport per passenger transfer is 65 drams. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan made this statement.
"I can’t imagine where these figures come from. They could have said 23 drams or 6 drams. 6 drams sounds better. However, our monthly expenditure for ‘Yerevan Bus’ LLC is approximately 1.8 billion drams, not including the purchased buses," the mayor said.
He also reminded that since the late 1990s, the cost for passenger transport has been 100 drams.
"We have a problem in presenting our work better and making these simple truths accessible to people, because when we don't talk, the conversation happens in the language of manipulation, and people hear that. Now they want to convince that it is possible to transport people for 65 drams with the new 12-meter German buses and our new 8.5-meter fleet, supposedly that is the cost. I say they could have announced 6 drams, 7 drams, or even free," he added.
