Betting on Power Could Ultimately Bury Diplomacy, Lavrov Says
The U.S. transition to the "America First" doctrine parallels the Nazi-era slogan "Germany Above All." This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an article he wrote for the magazine "Russia in Global Politics."
"Betting on establishing peace through power could ultimately bury diplomacy," added the Russian foreign minister. Lavrov emphasized that such expressions and ideological constructs show a complete lack of respect for the international legal obligations that Washington has taken on under the UN Charter.
The Russian foreign minister agrees with experts who believe that there will be no return to the previous situation that the U.S. and its allies defended until now, as demographic, economic, social, and geopolitical conditions have irrevocably changed.
Sergey Lavrov considers the prediction that one day the U.S. will understand that it should not overestimate its zone of responsibility in international affairs to be correct, and it will feel perfectly harmonious as one of the leading countries, but no longer as a hegemon.
