Mexico Will Return Migrants Left at the U.S. Border, President Says
Mexico will return migrants who have been "affected by U.S. measures" to their countries of origin. This was announced by Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum.
"This is a matter of humanitarian concern. If these people are on Mexican soil, we take care of them based on humanitarian considerations," Sheinbaum's words were quoted by CNN.
The Mexican leader emphasized that the return of migrants will be voluntary and will occur within the framework of agreements with various Latin American countries.
It was previously reported that one of the U.S.-Mexico border crossing points was temporarily closed just minutes before Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony. Trump had previously announced a state of emergency at the southern U.S. borders.
