Hamas Confirms New Round of Gaza Negotiations
The Palestinian Hamas movement has confirmed that a new round of indirect negotiations with Israel will take place in Doha on January 3 regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The corresponding announcement was published on the movement's official website, as reported by TASS.
“Today, Friday, indirect negotiations concerning Gaza are resuming in the Qatari capital Doha, during which the ceasefire regime in the enclave, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, and the return of displaced persons to their homes across the region will be discussed,” the document states.
The Hamas statement does not mention whether the parties plan to raise the issue of exchanging Israeli hostages held in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners during the meeting.
