Earthquake Occurs, Felt in Armenia as Well
On December 28, 2024, at 15:44 local time (11:44 GMT), an earthquake was registered by the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia. The earthquake occurred in Georgia, 8 km northwest of the town of Dmanisi, at a depth of 10 km, with a magnitude of 4.2. The intensity of ground shaking in the epicentral zone was assessed at 5-6 points.
The earthquake was felt in the city of Gyumri and in the villages of Bavra, Ghazanchi, Ashotzk, and Musayelyan in the Shirak Province, as well as in the cities of Tashtun and Stepanavan and in the villages of Metsavan, Sarchapet, and Mikhaylovka in the Lori Province, with an intensity of 3-4 points.
