Avinyan Sues Three Media Outlets
The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has filed lawsuits against three media outlets within a week. Panorama.am reports this news.
According to the data from the Court Register, Avinyan has submitted three claims against the media outlets: the Civilitas Foundation, the 'Oragir' newspaper, and 'Zhoghovurd'. The lawsuits against the first two media were received by the court on December 10, while the claim against 'Zhoghovurd' was submitted on December 18.
Through the court, Avinyan demands that the media outlets publicly apologize, publicly refute the statements he considers defamatory, and provide compensation.
The lawsuit against the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper was assigned on December 18 to Judge Serine Khachatryan of the Yerevan Civil Court. The claim against 'Oragir' has been assigned to Judge Sargis Armenakyan, and the lawsuit against 'Civilitas' is assigned to Judge Armenuhi Badiyan.
Additionally, Avinyan has filed a lawsuit against 'CivilNet' over the article titled 'The Avinyans’ Business: Indirect Beneficiary of State Funds'.
