Foreigner Steals Large Sum at Zvartnots Airport

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a citizen reported to the community police division at Zvartnots Airport that on December 14, around 10:30 AM, he arrived in Yerevan with his parents on a Beirut-Yerevan flight.

“In the baggage claim area, they received their luggage and went home, where they noticed that one of their carry-on bags was missing. Afterward, they returned to the airport, where they presented the situation to the police department. However, upon checking the contents of the bag, it was discovered that $10,000 was missing.

As a result of operational-investigative measures, it was determined that the money had been stolen by a 39-year-old foreign citizen from a bag in the paid parking area on the first floor of the airport. Following explanatory work, he reported to the community police division at Zvartnots Airport on December 15, where he confessed to the crime and returned the stolen money.

The documents prepared have been passed to the investigative department of Zvartnots Airport. An investigation is ongoing,” the statement read.
