Voting in the Presidential Elections in Georgia Has Concluded
The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission has stated that the presidential elections in Georgia are considered valid, as more than half of the 300-member electoral college has participated. "As of 11:30, more than 170 council members have already engaged in the process, therefore the elections are valid," he said.
It is worth noting that today was the presidential election in Georgia. The only candidate for the presidency is former football player and now parliament member Mikheil Kavelashvili, nominated by the ruling 'Georgian Dream' party. The current president, Salome Zurabishvili, had previously announced that she would not resign from the position, as she believes that 'there cannot be legitimate presidential elections in the absence of a legitimate parliament.'
