Assault, Murder: Police Colonel Sentenced to Life Imprisonment
The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction has accepted the prosecutor's motion regarding sentencing, issuing a life imprisonment sentence to Daniel Danielyan, who held the position of head of the violations recording center of the Police's Road Patrol Service. This decision was made on December 13, 2024. The information was reported by the RA Prosecutor General's Office.
It is worth recalling that on May 3, 2018, Police Colonel Daniel Danielyan committed a robbery with the intent of stealing 500,000 USD from the 'HSBC Bank Armenia' branch on Komitas Avenue, during which he killed a bank security officer and an employee of 'Armobil' LLC who was on duty at the site, along with an assistant to the commander of the first platoon of the second company from the second battalion of the Police's State Protection Service of Yerevan. Another security staff member sustained a gunshot wound.
On March 5, 2024, the prosecutor requested in his speech that Daniel Danielyan be found guilty of robbery with the intent of stealing particularly large amounts of property, committing murder for mercenary motives against two persons engaged in official activities, attempted murder, and illegally acquiring, holding, transporting, or carrying weapons, ammunition, explosive materials, or explosive devices. The prosecutor called for the imposition of a life sentence.
With the court's ruling on December 13, 2024, Daniel Danielyan was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment.
