Assad Decides to Step Down from Presidency
Bashar Assad has left the presidency of Syria and exited the country, instructing for a peaceful transfer of power.
Russia did not participate in the negotiations, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry. “As a result of negotiations between Bashar Assad and several participants in the armed conflict in Syria, he has decided to step down from the presidency and leave the country, instructing for the transfer of power to be carried out peacefully,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
