Iran Highlights Consequences of Trump's Actions and Offers Advice
The newly elected President of the USA, Donald Trump, should abandon the policy towards Iran that he pursued during his first term in the White House. This was stated by Iran's Vice President for Strategic Affairs, Javad Zarif, as reported by Interfax.
He referred specifically to the 'maximum pressure' policy that Trump began implementing after winning the 2016 elections. Zarif added that such actions have led Tehran to accelerate its uranium enrichment.
Recently, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing its sources, that Trump would sharply intensify sanctions against Iran, particularly in the oil sector, after taking office.
The publication recalled how during his first presidential term, Trump exited the agreement with Tehran and six other countries, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which aimed to limit Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.
White House sources believe that Trump will continue his policy towards Iran.
