Video: Baghramyan Avenue Closed. What Is Happening Near the Presidential Palace
Supporters of the movement led by Bishop Bagrat are currently in front of the residence of the President of Armenia. They had previously announced that they would come here to demand that the president not sign the National Assembly's decision on the regulations for border demarcation.
Although news spread a few hours ago that President Vahagn Khachaturyan had signed the regulations, the movement's supporters decided not to cancel the gathering. Journalists asked whether the movement's actions are delayed in light of this, to which the bishop replied, “We are doing what we have planned. One thing is for sure—whether or not there are people in these buildings, those people are absent. In fact, even if they had not signed, we would have been here with the same request and demand, and the reaction would have been the same as it is now. No institution operates in our country.”
During the rally, Bishop Bagrat informed reporters that his car was stopped by police on Baghramyan Avenue, who said they could not identify the vehicle and took it to the impound lot. It is worth noting that Baghramyan Avenue periodically becomes impassable for vehicles due to the influx of people. Police in riot gear are standing in several lines in front of the presidential residence.
