Putin Will Not Attend Baku
Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the UN COP29 climate conference scheduled to take place in Baku in November. This was reported by a source within the Azerbaijani government to the BBC.
“Russia will be represented at the event at the ‘prime ministerial level,’” the source told the BBC's Azerbaijani service, confirming that an invitation was sent to the Russian president along with other world leaders.
This is a UN event, and the organizers (in this case, the Azerbaijani government) do not differentiate when sending invitations, the source stated.
Earlier this week, Ukraine called on Western countries to boycott the COP29 summit in Azerbaijan if Putin decides to attend. Ukraine has stated that if Russian President Vladimir Putin participates in the COP-29 event in Azerbaijan, then Western nations should refrain from participating in the event.
