Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia Comments on Purchase of Electric SUVs
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has commented on the appropriateness of the decision to purchase electric SUVs worth 1 billion 3 million AMD in response to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia.
It has been clarified that the Ministry has signed a contract with Avantgarde Motors LLC for the purchase of 67 units of the 2024 model "Volvo EX40" SUVs. Each vehicle costs 19.7 million AMD.
The ministry stated that it has researched a range of vehicles used by police in several European countries, which led to the development of a draft technical specification for the vehicle procurement that was put to public discussion.
“Based on the received proposals and the analysis of the automobile market, a final technical specification was developed, which was used to acquire 67 electric vehicles of the "VOLVO EX40" model through the appropriate procurement procedures,” the Ministry reported.
After delivery, the vehicles will be operated by the patrol service. It should be noted that according to the technical specifications, the SUV can be charged in a standard mode in 7 hours and in fast charging mode in 34 minutes. The range of the SUVs on a single charge will be 450-476 km. The color of the vehicles is black.
It is worth mentioning that earlier the Yerevan City Hall purchased 21 electric cars worth 644,000 USD, while the State Property Management Committee of Armenia acquired 49 electric cars for 2.7 million USD.
