Mass Demolition of Residential Buildings in Occupied Stepanakert
The Azerbaijani administration has initiated a mass demolition of residential buildings in occupied Stepanakert. This was reported by Sergey Shahverdyan, the secretary of the State Council for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in the occupied territories of Artsakh, on his social media page.
He noted that in the past few days, the historic neighborhoods along Tumanyan Street in the capital have been leveled, thereby violating the property rights of thousands of owners of private buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
“Residents of Stepanakert must urgently organize and demand from the Armenian authorities and international organizations to take public action to uphold the collective rights of the population of Artsakh, including the assurance of return and property rights. The authorities of the Republic of Artsakh should undertake the role of coordinator for a mass movement to protect the collective rights of the people of Artsakh,” he wrote, adding that they may even need to start from today's gathering.
