Details Released by Investigative Committee on Child Abduction Attempt
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has released details regarding an attempted child abduction case. According to the information provided, a 57-year-old individual from Yerevan approached two children, aged 11 and 12, who were walking together in a 'Mercedes' vehicle. The suspect attempted to persuade the children to enter his car.
In connection with this incident, public criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 57-year-old under Article 44-191, Part 2, Clause 3 of the RA Criminal Code (for two episodes), and formal charges have been filed against him. As a preventive measure, he has been remanded in custody.
During the investigation, all directors of schools and kindergartens operating in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district have been interrogated to ascertain whether any child abduction or attempts have occurred from their institutions, and no relevant information has been received regarding such incidents.
