Borrell Reveals Who Saved Kyiv from Surrender
Ukraine would have been forced to surrender in its conflict with Russia within weeks without the help of the United States and the European Union. This opinion was expressed by Josep Borrell, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, during a seminar at the Council on Foreign Relations in the U.S., which was broadcast by the European Commission's press service.
“Without you and without us, Ukraine would surrender in a few weeks,” he said, reminding that Kyiv relies on assistance from Washington and Brussels.
Borrell reiterated the necessity of lifting restrictions on the use of weapons by Kyiv for attacks on Russian territory. “We need to help Ukraine faster and faster, we need to give Ukraine an economic and strategic advantage over Russia and allow them to decide what is acceptable and what is not,” he added.
