We Are Ready for That: Erdogan
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has expressed his willingness to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He made this announcement during a press conference before heading to the United Nations General Assembly in the United States.
“We have already announced our desire to meet with Bashar al-Assad to regulate relations between Turkey and Syria. We expect a response from the Syrian side. We are ready for that. I believe that a new phase will begin from that meeting,” said the state leader.
In his opinion, the time has come to put an end to the tense situation in Syria. “We see that the leadership of Syria has not engaged in confrontation with the opposition for some time, which indicates that steps have been taken towards stable peace,” Erdogan noted.
Recently, media reports have emerged regarding a possible meeting between the presidents of Turkey and Syria.
