UN to Hold Meeting Regarding Pager Explosions in Lebanon: What We Know So Far
The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on September 20 in connection with the recent pager explosions in Lebanon, a source in the Security Council reported to TASS.
Here is what is known about the new wave of explosions in Lebanon:
- Explosions of mobile walkie-talkies, phones, and other devices with lithium-ion batteries and solar batteries have been reported in various regions of Lebanon.
- Earlier, a source from the municipal administration of Ghobeiri stated that explosions of mobile radio stations were recorded in the southern neighborhoods of Beirut. According to him, Israel is likely behind the new cyberattack.
- Images began circulating online showing that Japanese Icom radio equipment, specifically the Icom IC-V82 walkie-talkies, could have exploded, as reported by Al Arabiya.
- According to Reuters, Hezbollah had acquired products about five months ago, almost simultaneously with the pagers, hundreds of which exploded in Lebanon on September 17.
- At least 9 people have died and over 300 have been injured, according to Reuters.
- The UN Security Council will hold an open meeting regarding the explosions of communication devices in Lebanon, a source in the Security Council told TASS.
