Parents Claim Sexual Assault on Child at School

A 32-year-old man has filed a complaint with a territorial division of the police in Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs, alleging that a classmate of his minor son engaged in non-consensual sexual relations with him.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the citizen was summoned to the police department where he reported that he learned of the incident when his son came home crying and disclosed the information. The child expressed suicidal thoughts, stating he did not want to live anymore. On September 9, the parents visited the primary school where their son studies, where 70-year-old S.P. threatened them with murder, saying that if they spoke out, he would kill them and cut their throats.

In connection with the incident, documents have been prepared at the local police department, which have been forwarded to the Investigative Committee's regional investigative department, where a criminal case has been initiated under the characteristics of "violent sexual acts." Certain details regarding the case are withheld in consideration of the investigation's interests.
