A Official from Artsakh No Longer Exists: Alen Simonyan
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, believes that the inter-parliamentary commission between Armenia and Artsakh should be dissolved due to its lack of legal validity. During a discussion, Artsvik Minasyan, the secretary of the ‘Armenia’ faction, inquired, ‘As the President of the National Assembly, do you intend to convene a meeting of this commission or how should we proceed?’
Alen Simonyan emphasized that he believes the format should be abolished because, according to him, the second party no longer holds any legal authority. ‘I think we need to seriously consider canceling this format, because there is no longer an official from Artsakh; no one in Armenia has such a status anymore. I don’t know who I’d discuss this with in the event of a possible meeting,’ he noted.
He added that Artsakh has effectively dissolved itself. ‘Relations are possible when there are two sides. I cannot convene a meeting with certain individuals,’ Simonyan concluded.
