No Letter Received by MoH, Our Staff Learned from Media and Went to the Hrazdan Gorge: Tsatrtyan
"No one has written to our National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, but we have willingly gone there. Our specialists say that in general, the National Center is not engaged in sewage water issues, but rather the Environmental and Health Inspectorate is. A process needs to be initiated so that we can move forward based on that," said Mariam Tsatrtyan, press spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, in an interview with Auroranews.
"We have taken laboratory samples, but it is not an easy process; it can take up to 2 days. And it is not the case that all bodies must wait for the sampling response, especially since the water is self-purifying. Moreover, we did not take samples from sewage but from the water, and the sampling results may come back good because when water flows, the impurities dilute. The municipality is the body that can prohibit swimming in that area without waiting for the sampling results," Tsatrtyan added. She also noted that no letter has been received by them, and their employees learned from the media and went to the scene.
