Sheikh Hasina's Whereabouts Revealed After Resigning as Prime Minister of Bangladesh
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left her residence in Dhaka with her sister following her announcement of resignation and has arrived in Agartala, India, as reported by News18. It is speculated that the politician will head to London after her stay in India.
Mass protests in Bangladesh began in June 2024, fueled by student demonstrations over job placement quotas, and continue to this day. The army has been involved in the crackdown against the protesters.
On August 5, Reuters reported, citing a statement from a bank in New Delhi, that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down and left for India amid the ongoing protests. Earlier, protesters had set fire to the memorial museum of Bangladesh's first president.
