Most of the Peace Treaty Draft Has Been Agreed Upon: Klaar
I am hopeful that due to the political will and ongoing efforts of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the chapter of enmity and violence can now be definitively turned for the benefit of all peoples in the region. This was stated by Teuvo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, in an interview with jam-news.net.
"As far as I know, most of the peace treaty draft has already been agreed upon. It seems to me that the only thing missing is the political will necessary to reach a final agreement. We are convinced that a final agreement on the remaining issues and formulations is attainable. The peace treaty and its subsequent implementation will fundamentally change the situation in the region. I believe the leaders also share this view and will make all necessary efforts to reach a final agreement on this matter," Klaar said.
He emphasized that the fact that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev did not meet at the recent summit of the European Political Community held in the UK illustrates how fragile the process is.
