Pentagon Makes Accounting Error, Billions in Aid to Kyiv Not Delivered
The U.S. Department of Defense has discovered additional errors in the calculations of military equipment, missiles, and other aid sent to Ukraine. Washington may now send an additional $2 billion in military aid, according to Reuters.
“Auditors have corrected the accounting mistakes in the supply calculations. The unclear definition of value in the foreign assistance law and the lack of specific guidance on assessments have led to discrepancies in the accountable value of military assistance. The U.S. Department of Defense has identified an additional $2 billion in aid for Ukraine,” the report states.
The Pentagon has informed the U.S. Government Accountability Office that another error was identified related to inflated information concerning the $2 billion. As a result, an additional $2 billion in military aid may be sent to Ukraine to improve the volume of assistance approved by the Biden administration.
RIA Novosti also reported that the U.S. Government Accountability Office calculated that the military assistance accounting for Ukraine has repeatedly made errors, amounting to a total of $8.2 billion.
