People Hospitalized with Signs of Botulism in Russia; Many in Intensive Care
In the Nizhny Novgorod region and Kazan, several individuals have been hospitalized with signs of botulism. The Ministry of Health of Nizhny Novgorod region reported that 14 people (including one child) have been hospitalized in health facilities with indications of botulism. Among them, 12 are currently in the intensive care unit. Doctors are taking all necessary measures.
In Kazan, the number of people showing symptoms of botulism has reached 8. Criminal cases have been initiated in the regional offices of the investigative committee.
It is noteworthy that the first cases of botulism were recorded in Moscow on June 14, where more than 120 individuals sought medical assistance due to suspected botulism. Of those, 30 are in the intensive care unit. Additionally, four more suspected cases have been hospitalized in Nizhny Novgorod. All affected individuals reportedly purchased ready-to-eat food.
