14 Pilgrims Die During Hajj, Casualties in Saudi Arabia May Rise
In Saudi Arabia, 14 citizens of Jordan have died due to extreme heat during the Hajj pilgrimage, while another 17 are reported missing. This information has been confirmed by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is expected that the number of casualties may increase during the mass pilgrimage to one of the most important shrines in the Islamic world.
At the same time, Iran's Red Crescent confirmed the deaths of five Iranian pilgrims but did not clarify the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
It is noteworthy that Hajj, a religious ritual, is one of the largest mass gatherings in the world and is mandatory for all Muslims. According to Saudi officials, more than 1.8 million people are expected to participate in this year's pilgrimage.
