PHOTOS: The old road to Jermuk is impassable
On June 11, at 15:01, the crisis management center of the Vayots Dzor regional rescue service received a call reporting a landslide on the road from Yerevan to Meghri (M-2) leading to Gndevank, requesting assistance.
An operational group from the Fire and Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been dispatched to the scene.
It was discovered that due to heavy rainfall, a mudflow occurred at the 11th km of the H-43 road (the old road leading to Jermuk from the M-2 highway), resulting in approximately 20 cubic meters of soil obstructing the roadway and making it impassable.
During the inspection of the area, two additional segments partially blocked by the mudflow were identified (approximately 5 and 7 cubic meters, respectively). Engineering equipment is necessary to carry out cleaning operations.
The rescue teams have cordoned off the area.
