Video: Bishop Bagrat Discusses Armenia's Relations with CSTO
The Republic of Armenia currently has legal contractual relations with the Russian Federation and is at a new level of adjustment; although, it must be said, these relations are not in a good state today, if I may say, they are largely damaged. This was announced by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan during a press conference with international media.
“Therefore, our thoughts and plans are that despite the many questions posed to the Russian side, we are trying to bring all these relations back to the level of our established legal contractual arrangements and to normalize them, which require considerable and profound dialogue and mutual understanding,” he noted.
According to Bishop Bagrat, it is very natural to say that we are currently in a situation of what can be described as the non-existence of those relations. “And for us, the established legal frameworks must definitely be revisited. Therefore, with numerous questions, we are ready to address all these issues at a level of mutual understanding and dialogue,” emphasized the archbishop.
Speaking about Armenia's relations with the CSTO, he noted that the core of their agenda is the Armenian agenda, the interests of the Republic of Armenia. “And all relations should be built around this core,” he said.
“At this moment, our complete thought is that we need to reconsider all the established conditions, which exist in the legal field, as I said, within the framework of legal contracts. The topic you mentioned is also among these issues. And it cannot come out of this range since it must foster deep and extensive discussions, encourage dialogues, and at the same time raise questions, and all of it must occur at a constructive level. I reiterate—based on mutual understanding, with a focus on the Armenian agenda and the interests of the Republic of Armenia,” the archbishop added.
