Latvian President Calls for Suspension of Georgia's EU Candidate Status
Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs has called for the suspension of Georgia's candidate status for EU membership following the adoption of the "Transparency of Foreign Influence" law. He criticized the European Union's current policy towards Georgia, urging action to weaken Russian influence.
Rinkēvičs also urged the Georgian government to consider the desires of its society and to resist external pressures that could hinder the country's democratic development. He emphasized that Latvia will support Georgia's initiatives and efforts, but only if the country respects the principles of democracy and the rule of law.
