Investigative Committee Details Arrest of Martakert Mayor

The investigation into a large-scale theft involving forgery and fraud continues within the Special Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to data obtained during the pre-investigation, M.Sh. and V.S., in preliminary agreement and as a group, allegedly intended to illegally appropriate a light passenger car, a 2010 CHEVROLET LACETTI-1.4 valued at 1,935,000 Armenian Drams, belonging to another person or persons.

On January 12, 2024, they appeared together before a state body to execute a vehicle transfer transaction. V.S., presenting forged information regarding the authority to transfer the mentioned vehicle, acted as a party to the contract that day without any legal grounds, with V.S. as the donor and M.G. as the recipient, creating a fraudulent legal document in the form of a donation agreement. As a result, the property was illegally transferred to M.G.

In this manner, M.G., in preliminary agreement as a group, is accused of committing the theft of the vehicle through the preparation and use of a forged document of legal significance. Charges were brought against M.G. under parts 1 and 3 of Article 255, and part 2 of Article 457 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, leading to their arrest.

A motion was submitted to the court to apply pre-trial detention as a measure, which was granted, and M.G. has been detained. The investigation is ongoing.
