VIDEO: I Will Not Sell Myself to the Turk. Kiran Resident on Housing Compensation Offer
When we met with Nikol, we were told that if the house falls into Azerbaijani territory, we would be compensated, and given a house. I said, 'I will not sell myself to the Turk.'
This was stated by Gevorg, a resident of Kiran village, during an interview with NEWS.am in the closed section of the Armenia-Georgia interstate road, as his house is set to be located in Azerbaijani territory due to border demarcation and delimitation work.
“We demand a meeting with the governor, but he has been absent from morning until now. Let him come and meet with the entire community if he is clean,” said the resident of Kiran, adding that the governor wished to meet without the presence of media.
When asked what was offered to him as compensation, he stated that he does not want anything regardless of what they might offer. “Don’t even mention the word compensation to me, it disturbs me. I will not sell myself to the Turk. I am not Nikol, who would sell myself to the Turk,” added the female resident of Kiran.
It should be noted that for about five hours, the residents of Kiran have blocked the section of the Armenia-Georgia interstate road in Kiran. They express dissatisfaction with the results of the border demarcation published yesterday.
