My candidate for Prime Minister is Bagrat Surbazan: Garnik Danielyan
“70-80 thousand people cannot gather and the next day that movement be extinguished; such a thing cannot happen,” said Garnik Danielyan, a member of the Armenia parliamentary group “Hayastan,” in an interview with NEWS.am.
“We see every day that it is not fading, but new people are joining. There are people who expect rapid changes, and we want that to happen as well, but there are processes, there are steps that must be taken. There is an impeachment process. During this time, we also need to do our homework. We have been in Yerevan for a few days, and we need to conduct our homework. The impeachment process is also ongoing,” he stated.
In response to the remark that for impeachment to proceed, members of the ruling party, Civil Contract, need to join, Danielyan said, “There are different people who are close to various deputies; even today, one approached and said, ‘I can talk to them.’ He asked, ‘Do you allow me to go speak?’ I said yes. The agenda we are presenting is very unifying. If we miss this opportunity, tomorrow more radical-minded individuals could emerge, who are also in the opposition sphere. If the Civil Contract does not seize this opportunity, tomorrow will be fateful for them. This is a peaceful transition.”
He noted that if they disclose the sequence of their actions now, the authorities will take advantage of it, stating, “That’s why Bagrat Surbazan is not revealing too many cards.”
When asked who will be the candidate for Prime Minister, Garnik Danielyan replied, “Today, Bagrat Surbazan has the highest rating; for me, the candidate is Bagrat Surbazan. People from all walks of life respect him and acknowledge his path and character. This is, at least, evident to me.”
