Video: Georgian Special Forces Brutally Beat Protesters
Georgian special forces have brutally beaten protesters who were arrested near the parliament. Protests against the "Transparency of Foreign Influence" bill continue in Tbilisi. The bill is set to be discussed in the country's parliament today and is expected to be finalized with a third reading on May 14.
Participants in the protests, including opposition political figures, deem the actions of the security forces illegal and are demanding the withdrawal of the so-called "foreign agents" law. Protesters frequently chant "slaves." During the protests in Tbilisi last night, 20 people were arrested, among them three foreigners: one Russian and two American citizens. According to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, all were arrested under administrative code articles for petty hooliganism and failing to comply with police orders.
