Floods in Afghanistan: Death Toll Exceeds 300
The death toll from floods in the Baghlan province of Afghanistan has exceeded 300, according to a report from the World Food Programme (WFP) shared on social media. More than 300 people have lost their lives due to the torrential rains that have plagued the region in recent weeks, with approximately 1,000 homes destroyed.
The organization noted that aid has been provided to residents of the affected areas. Meanwhile, Afghanistan's meteorological department has warned of heavy rains in the provinces of Badakhshan, Tahar, Baghlan, Panjshir, Laghman, Kunar, Nuristan, and Nangarhar.
Severe flooding is observed in various parts of the country, particularly in Baghlan, Ghor, Badakhshan, and Herat provinces. There are concerns that the death toll may rise. Previously, Afghan authorities reported that emergency response efforts were underway in the regions affected by the flooding.
Floods caused by excessive precipitation in Afghanistan claim thousands of lives each year.
