VIDEO: Armenia-Georgia Interstate Road Reopened
Residents of Baghanis, Kiranzi, and Voskepar, along with activists from Yerevan, have temporarily reopened the Armenia-Georgia interstate road to allow the long line of vehicles to pass.
In the footage from 24news, we see that after police intervention, the protestors opened the road. One of the protestors told Sputnik that the situation had escalated in this area, with many clashes occurring, and tensions were rising as their intention was not to exacerbate the situation. They decided to pause the demonstration at this juncture and are now moving towards Baghanis.
Earlier reports indicated that villagers had once again blocked the Yerevan-Noyemberyan interstate road. The reason was that despite a promise given to the locals the previous evening, demining operations began this morning by the Ministry of Defense in areas adjacent to Kiranzi. However, police stated that there had been a misunderstanding, and the Ministry of Defense employees were unaware of the agreement.
