People Gather in Tel Aviv Demanding Early Elections and Release of Hostages
Thousands of activists have gathered in central Tel Aviv, nearly 200 days after the Palestinian militant movement's attack on Israel in October 2023, demanding early elections and an immediate deal for the release of hostages from Gaza.
The protest is taking place near government buildings, including the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense. Emergency service crews and a large police force are present on the scene, blocking traffic in the city center and setting up barriers to prevent potential disturbances, which have occurred several times in recent weeks. Water cannon vehicles are also stationed near the protest site.
Demonstrators are traditionally waving national flags, chanting anti-government slogans, banging drums, and holding photos of the hostages. The protest has been coordinated with the police and is currently proceeding without any breaches of public order.
