Why Biden Did Not Address Israel After Iran's Strike: Politico
U.S. President Joe Biden's aides discussed the possibility of a televised address to Israel following Iran's strike, but ultimately abandoned the idea to avoid escalation. This was reported by Politico, citing sources from the American administration.
According to the publication, "White House staff discussed the option for Biden to address the American people on Sunday" after "Israel, along with American forces, struck down the vast majority of drones and missiles launched from Iran." However, it was noted that there were no specific plans to organize such a video address, the newspaper emphasizes.
The publication states: "At the same time, Biden has 'deliberately not appeared in public following Iran's strike,' hoping that this will 'contribute to de-escalation of the situation.'" According to one source, a message from the Oval Office would have only served to "escalate" the situation. Politico's source highlights: "And it is better to avoid that."
