Iran Explains Why It Detained Israeli Cargo Ship
Iran has detained the Israeli cargo ship MSC Aries for violating maritime law. This was announced by Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani during a weekly press conference.
"Iran has consistently aimed to create a safe environment for navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf; however, due to violations of maritime law by that ship, it was sent to Iranian territorial waters," Kanaani stated.
On April 13, Iranian media reported that IRGC units had detained a cargo ship in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, which was sailing under the flag of Portugal.
