Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Hold Phone Conversation: Details Revealed

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has strongly condemned the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"The main focus was on the situation in the Middle East. The Russian side reiterated its decisive condemnation of the Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consular representation in Damascus on April 1. It was emphasized that any attack on diplomatic and consular objects, the inviolability of which is guaranteed by the relevant Vienna Conventions, is absolutely unacceptable, as well as political assassinations," the diplomatic department reported.

The ministers also confirmed their mutual readiness to maintain a high level of coordination on relevant issues of the international and regional agenda.

"The mutual interest in the consistent expansion of political-diplomatic cooperation, as well as trade and economic interaction, including in the transport and logistics sector, particularly in transit transportation, was emphasized," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
