The Ministry of Internal Affairs Reveals Details of Stabbing Incident Involving Two Brothers Near Cemetery
On February 21 at 19:15, the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report from the Vardenis Medical Center regarding two men who had been stabbed and were in serious condition.
An operational group dispatched to the hospital determined that the victims were brothers, aged 40 and 36, from the village of Pokr Masrik. The 36-year-old, Ara Lalayan, subsequently died in the hospital.
Through joint operational-investigative measures conducted by the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Gegharkunik Regional Department, and the Martuni and Vardenis divisions, it was established that around 18:30 on the same day, a conflict and brawl occurred on the village road between Arpunk and Pokr Masrik, near the cemetery in Pokr Masrik. The altercation involved a 44-year-old man from Arpunk and his two sons, aged 19 and 15, along with three brothers from Pokr Masrik.
During the fight, the 19-year-old from Arpunk inflicted knife wounds on the 40-year-old and 36-year-old men.
As a result of the operational measures, at 20:20, the 19-year-old was located, arrested, and taken to the Vardenis Police Department, where he confessed to the crime. He was presented to the prosecuting authority.
The 44-year-old man, the father of the 19-year-old, also submitted a folding knife, the weapon used in the crime, to the Vardenis Investigation Department.
The documentation has been sent to the Vardenis Investigation Department, and criminal proceedings have been initiated under the characteristics of murder and attempted murder. The 19-year-old has been transferred to the detention center of the Vardenis Police Department. An investigation is underway.
