Public Criminal Prosecution to be Initiated Against Police Officers in 'Yerablur Case'
Public criminal prosecution will be initiated against police officers in the 'Yerablur Case'. This was announced by the parents' lawyer Vahe Hovhannisyan on Facebook, where he specifically stated that the anti-corruption court has upheld the appeal filed by him against the decision not to initiate public criminal prosecution against the police officers. The defender noted that the anti-corruption court, presided over by Judge Mary Mosinyan, has also annulled the aforementioned decision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
It should be recalled that on September 21, 2022, on the Independence Day of Armenia, when the parents of the deceased went to Yerablur to prevent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from approaching their sons' graves, clashes occurred with police officers. The police officers used brute force against the parents. On the same day, some parents were detained by police; a criminal case was initiated in connection with the incident. To this day, no police officer has been held accountable.
