Tragic Accident in Syunik: 1 Dead, 2 Injured

A serious and tragic accident occurred in the Syunik region today due to icy road conditions. Around 12:10 PM, a collision happened on the Yerevan-Meghri highway at the 328 km mark between a Mitsubishi Grandis and a Scania truck with Iranian license plates.

According to reports from shamshyan.com, one person died at the scene, while two others were transported to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries.

The rescue team's vehicle, which arrived at the scene, also skidded on the ice and collided with the already damaged Iranian truck.

A criminal investigation has been initiated by the Syunik regional investigative department of the police regarding the incident, in which the identities of the drivers, the deceased, and the injured are being established. According to sources, the roadway was covered with black ice. Rescuers and patrol officers at the scene were filling the road with salt and sand with the help of citizens.
