More than 9,000 People Detained for Illegal Migration Organizing in St. Petersburg

The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg has detained the alleged leader of a criminal organization and a police officer who, according to investigators, helped illegal immigrants stay in the Northern capital. This information was reported by the unified press service of the city courts.

The investigation revealed that Firuzon Ravshanov, along with district police officer Farhad Aliyev, created an organized criminal group to provide migrants with fake documents to remain in the Russian Federation. The group operated from January 1, 2020, until December 31, 2023. It was clarified that foreign nationals were registered in the district's Kingisepp area in the 'Kurgala' tourist village. In total, 9,207 people were registered this way.

As a measure of restraint, detention has been imposed on the two defendants until March 9. Ravshanov partially accepted his guilt, while Aliyev does not accept the charges.
