Armenian Officials' Statements Are Causing New Problems: Zakharova

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commented on a number of statements made by Armenian officials regarding the failure of Russian peacekeepers to protect the population in Artsakh, allowing for ethnic cleansing. She stated that these comments are "counterproductive and do not correspond to reality."

Zakharova also mentioned that the Russian MFA continues dialogue with the Armenian MFA. "We have repeatedly presented the Russian side's position on these statements. We have pointed out that they only bring new problems to bilateral relations and do not support anything—neither the strengthening of the bilateral agenda nor the resolution of regional issues. Unfortunately, it seems that this is advantageous to someone. I do not know whether it benefits someone in Armenia or abroad. In commenting on these statements, I will say that they are attempts to distort the facts to evade responsibility," Zakharova said.
