New Decision on 12.5 kg of Gold Ingots Found by Cleaners at Former Prosecutor's Apartment
According to the newspaper "Joghourdi," a new decision has been made by law enforcement regarding the case of the 12.5 kg of gold ingots discovered by cleaners at the apartment of a former prosecutor.
It has been revealed to "Joghourdi" that the preliminary investigation into the origin and discovery of the 12.5 kg of gold ingots found in the uninhabited apartment of former prosecutor Vladimir Mnatsakanyan has been completed, and the case has been sent to court.
As known, in 2022, in an apartment located on Orbeli Street, Yerevan, which belonged to the late Vladimir Mnatsakanyan, who worked as a prosecutor during Soviet times, approximately 12.5 kg of gold worth about 655,000 USD was discovered.
The former prosecutor bequeathed the house to his daughter before passing away, and she had not been living in the country for a long time. Later, she contacted cleaners asking them to clean the apartment, during which the valuable metal was discovered.
It is still unclear where the prosecutor obtained such a significant amount of gold, and whether it belonged to the deceased prosecutor or another individual. What is certain is that former prosecutor V. Mnatsakanyan has passed away, and 12.5 kg of gold ingots have been discovered from his residence.
It is recalled that the Investigative Committee of Armenia reported that in November 2022, Soanna Roberti Voskanian, along with Anna Aramayisi Tadevosyan, was engaged in cleaning work in the apartment belonging to Vladimir Mnatsakanyan on Orbeli Brothers Street in Yerevan. They secretly stole 54 ingots containing 99.99% and 99.50% gold, valued at 266 million AMD, from that address. Then, they divided these ingots between each other, with Soanna Roberti Voskanian taking 28 of them, which she transported to her parental home in the Kotayk region and hid under a pillow in one of the bedrooms.
It is presumed that another cleaner provided detailed information to the investigators about the division of the gold, as she considered it unfair that one took 28 pieces while she received only 26. The gold ingots are currently held at the Central Bank, while the cleaners are facing charges. Meanwhile, the main question of where the former prosecutor acquired gold worth 266 million AMD remains a mystery.
