Germany Offers Financial Assistance to Armenia for Anti-Russian Measures: TASS
Germany is interested in the prompt withdrawal of Russian border guards from Armenia, and in exchange for this and other anti-Russian measures, Berlin is offering financial assistance to Yerevan. This was reported to TASS by an informed source.
“Germany seeks to pull Armenia into the West's anti-Russian policy. Berlin's goal is to create as much controversy as possible between Yerevan and Moscow. The Germans are interested in the prompt withdrawal of Russian border guards from Armenian territory, as well as the purging of Armenia's state apparatus from individuals friendly to Russia, including a lustration of the armed forces, special services, and law enforcement agencies. In return, Berlin offers financial and technical assistance to Yerevan, as well as support for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's efforts to prevent large-scale emigration of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh to European Union countries,” the agency's interlocutor noted.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an exclusive interview with TASS that Yerevan, under Western pressure, is trying to change its alliance with Moscow for vague promises. According to the Russian minister, Yerevan is attempting to blame Moscow for all misfortunes, including the loss of Karabakh, to justify the direction of its strategic pivot. However, as Lavrov pointed out, Armenia has been and remains a strategic partner for Russia in the South Caucasus.
