‘There is Nothing More Brutal and Absurd’: Isaac Herzog
Israeli President Isaac Herzog has described the lawsuit presented to the International Criminal Court (ICC) by South Africa as "horrific and laughable," accusing Israel of committing genocidal acts against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Herzog stated that "there is nothing more brutal and absurd" than the lawsuit filed at the ICC. Speaking with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to Israel, Herzog condemned South Africa for initiating the case at the ICC.
The Israeli president expressed gratitude to Washington for its support of Israel. According to the Ministry of Health, over 23,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7 due to Israeli military operations, and more than 85% of Gazan Palestinians have been displaced from their homes under Israeli directives. Independent experts estimate that 40% of housing in the Gaza Strip has already been damaged or destroyed due to Israeli attacks.
